Cisco的认证证书的主要目的是提供一种方法，以检验为Cisco分销商和合作伙伴工作人员的职能。由于Cisco在网络设备领域的领导地位，考取Cisco的证书也成为谋求工作、升职加薪的手段。CCIE是Cisco证书考试中最早的一个，是业界中含金量最高的证书之一，当然也被设计成了最受尊重、最难取得的证书之一，CCIE认证始于1994年。参加CCIE考试前并不需要获得Cisco的其他证书，但必须通过笔试后（也就是常说的CCIE writer）才能参加Cisco试验室*作考试（CCIE lab），如果你十分不幸地通过了试验室*作考试，那么恭喜你，你将拥有你想拥有的大部分东西了。后来Cisco公司根据需要增加了许多比CCIE更容易获得的证书，以判断商业伙伴工作人员的技能。
在这些新增加的认证证书中，比较常见的就是路由与交换系列。该系列认证计划根据实际提供了两类证书，一种认证实现能力（即CCNA/CCNP）；一种认证设计能力（即CCDA/CCDP）。每类证书又分为两个等级，即Associate级和Professional级。获得Associate级别证书是获得Prefessional级别证书的基础，也就是说你要想获得CCNP（或CCDP）证书需要先获得CCNA（或CCDA）证书。现在又推出最新CCNS.
要获得Cisco认证相应的知识，你可以通过自学或者参加Cisco推荐的与考试要求最匹配的课程培训。而要获得Cisco认证证书必须到考试中心参加并通过相应的考试，认证证书和考试号及匹配课程如下所示：

CCNA640-507升之640-607的原因：所有考试提供者(例如CISCO,MICROSOFT等)都会面对试题外洩的问题,因此这些考试提供者就会不定时更新题库,但这样的效果也不是很好,因此,CISCO最近推出新的考试策略,就是大量增加模擬*作题,而这些模擬*作题则是根据每一个思科路由器专家日常*作路由器时所会碰到的问题,如路由器*作,安裝,排解疑难等而制作出来的,这样即使有些考生背答案去应考,他所背的其实也就是他將来日常*作路由器时所需知晓的,同时也是CISCO希望它所认可的人所必需懂得的,这样一来,通过考试的人,事实上在背答案时,也就略懂得了路由器的*作原理.这对以后在实际工作上起了很大的作用.虽是Paper Cisco Certified,但却也有了点专家的影子。因而大大增加了思科证书的认受性。 在考试中的模擬*作题在得分方面佔比较大的比例.假若在模擬*作题中不能做至全对,某部分错了,错的部分固然没有分数,但答对的部分仍有部分分数,这些模擬*作题则是根据Flash的技术所發展出来的,而在即未来的CISCO考试中,將会有大量这样的Flash模擬*作题出现.由于这些以Flash技术所發展出来的试题对电脑糸统的要求较高,有些考试中心的旧设备可能已不能应付需求,因此新的CISCO的考试的推出,在一定程度上減少了CISCO考试中心的数目。 思科总裁John Chambers指出：未来思科考试模擬*作题將会增加,以提高思科认证权威性 。至于很多人不满CISCO不预先公布有关考试更改的消息,而是不动声息突然更改,转換成640-607的考试,对此,CISCO容许在3月12日之前登记考640-507考试的人,在3月12日起的6个星期之內继续考640-507,当然,已登记的考生也可更改为考新的640-607。未登记的则一律在3月13日起必须考新的640-607试。在新的640-607试中,所考的內容是一样的,只不过考核考生才能的方式改变了,所以,对于已经对640-507的考试做好充分准备,对CCNA的內容理解透徹,融汇贯通的考生是完全没有丝毫影响的,而640-507的學习教材也仍然适用于应付新的640-607考试。 CISCO在公布新的640-607考试之前,曾要求一批在CISCO工作的员工參加640-607的考试,以评估新的CCNA试的难度,并根据该批员工的考试表现定下了合格分数,继而形成了现在的640-607的考试标准。 在未来的CCIE笔试中,CISCO也预计会在其中增加模擬*作题,CISCO认为这是考核考生才能的一种较好,较实际的做法。 CISCO总裁John Chambers强调持有CISCO认证的人应具有相应技术,名实相符CISCO更攺考试模式的一个原因就是收到有一些雇主对有些持有思科认可的员工的工作技能差的投诉,CISCO非常重视支付薪金给持有思科认可证书的人的老板的意见,为了确保思科证书的认受性,以及雇主会以思科认证作为评核员工才能的标准,CISCO將在它的很多考试中增加模擬*作题,这更能正确地衡量出考生的真实水平,也能增加雇主对思科证书的重视,CISCO相信这样对CISCO、持有思科证书的人、以及雇主,長远来说都是有利的。

3月26日Cisco公司正式向外界公布了最新的认证程序，这就是CCNS——Cisco Content Networking Specialist——Cisco内容联网专家。
为了成为一名CCNS你需要预先持有有效的CCNP或者CCIP资格证书并且通过了必需的相关考试。
Cisco公司为了优化网站性能和内容教务而创建了一套综合性的体系结构。新推出的CCNS认证其目的就是检验考生针对现有的和将来的Cisco内容网络解决方案、内容分派和管理、内容路由、内容边缘交付和内容交换所以应具有的基本技术技能。
新认证计划的建议培训只能由授权的全球Cisco学习伙伴主办，其内容包括：

3.要获得CCNP，必须通过CCNA；要获得CCDP，也必须通过CCDA。
4.现在思科正在推行网络技术学院计划，其第一学年课程内容与CCNA相匹配，共分为四个学期，主要面向在校学生，也适合网络初学者。参加网络学院的学生若在四个学期的考试中成绩优秀，在考CCNA时还可以获得一定的考试费拆扣。

2.Cisco官方培训幻灯版（强烈推荐，必备）
每一门Cisco官方的培训都配有相应的幻灯片（PPT），是学习和复习相应课程的很好的材料，在使用
时需要你的系统安装有Office套件中的PowerPoint。虽然PPT的内容不是很多，但却很精练，考试中遇
到的一部分题可以在PPT里找到相关内容，推荐与人邮的中文书配合使用。
3.CBT Systems的多媒体教程（推荐）
CBT Systems是一家电子多媒体教育软件公司，推出了与每一门CCNX/CCDX课程相对应的电子教程，
包括ICND,BSCN,BSMCN,BCRAN,CIT,DCN,CID;同时还有与Cisco一些其它培训课程相应的教程,
如ICRC,IMCR,ACRC等。在使用时需要先安装专门的多媒体教程播放软件SmartForce Player,然后再安装相应的课程（Courseware Installation），内容很丰富，而且里面的英文都可以使用金山词霸即指即译，当然全部看完是需要许多时间。如果你是从网上下载的请注意了，相应的课程文件安装之后会自动消失的，所以最好先备份。
4.National Education Training Group（NETg）的多媒体教程（推荐）它出的教程与每一门CCNX/CCDX课程对应，全套大概有500M。里面的内容也很丰富，有大量的图片，包括有产品图、硬件接口图、网络拓扑图，有些课程还有英文配音呢，听起来感觉不错。
5.LearnKey公司出的CIT多媒体教程
也就是那个三张碟的东东，里面有图像、图片、声音等多媒体，与CIT课程匹配。不过我觉得那个黑人十分不好看，如果换个PLMM，我才会去看。而且声音都没有匹配的文字显示，听起来感觉就如同听天书一般，感觉不爽。不过鸟语很棒的人士可以用一下。
6.Cisco网络技术学院教程
电子版，WEB页面，有一套中文版的，还有英文版的（分为四个学期），与Cisco公司的学院课程匹配。
7.Cisco CIM（推荐）
即Cisco Interactive Mentor (CIM)，为思科官方出的网络交互式教程，与它的一些培训课程相匹配。
有ICND、BCRAN、BCMSN，还有与ISDN、VoiceIP等内容匹配的课程，十分值得一看。
8.思科文档光盘（必备）
即Cisco Documentation CD，共两张光盘。这个东西我就不介绍了
9.路由器模拟器&考试模拟器
穷人的好东西，可以增加你的感性认识，如果没有设备，那只好拿它顶顶火了。不过模拟毕竟是模拟，和实际设备的使用是有很大不同的，不必花太多时间弄它。比较著名的有Boson和RouterSim两个公司的，都分有CCNA版和CCNP版的，内容方面是各有千秋，Boson CCNP 3.5X版本的还可以自己绘制试验拓扑，详细介绍可以参看论坛里的相关贴子。
一些Cisco Press书籍的配置光盘中都有相应考试内容的模拟器，内容很简单里面绝对不会出现真题，只对你巩固已学过的知识有帮助。我刚开始的时候可是傻傻地把CCNA的考试做了好多篇。较好的考试模拟器当然是Boson公司出的，可以解密的最新版是4.51的。现在已经出到4.X版了，一个朋友说把解密的3.88版在网上升级也可以变成4.X版，有兴趣的朋友可以试一下。如果你模拟考试的实际通过率能达到80%以上，那么你的知识就掌握得差不多了，再认真复习一下，把里面题目的概念搞懂，特别是搞清楚做错的题，然后你就可以考虑安排时间去考试了。就我感觉模拟器里的题的英文
要比实际考试的复杂，所以用来练习英文可是非常不错的，而且里面好象有些真题哦

There are two resources, which I know of.

At present they offer Cisco’s ICRC and ACRC courses. All source material and product training for these courses were supplied, reviewed and approved by Cisco Systems, Inc. You can download a demo from their web site.
http://www.cbtsys.com/ They offer only Cisco’s ICRC course at present. They are planning to bring in CBTs related with CCIE, CCNA Wan Switching, ACRC, CLSC, CMTD, CIT and CCNP.
