Group Overview:    Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) and MSN Search have partnered to create the exciting new Search Technology Center (STC) in Beijing, China. Launched in October of 2005, the center is dedicated to advancing the state-of-the-art in search technology and delivering a more intelligent and powerful search experience to MSN users in China and around the world. Our mission is to:
•     Deliver innovative Search products and services together with MSN/Live search
•     Accelerate innovations by seamlessly combining research and development in MSRA
•     Evolve Search platform into an Internet Service platform for the next generation of Internet research and development
      The STC team consists of top researchers in related areas working hand in hand with engineers to enable a fast innovation model that bridges fundamental research and product development. By combining both Microsoft’s research and development talents, STC is creating one of the most versatile, challenging, and fascinating research and development environments in the IT industry.
      STC plans to add employees to conduct advanced development in the following areas: Chinese search, multi-media search, mobile and local search, deep Web, distributed storage and computing systems, and other fundamental areas for improving web crawling, search results ranking, web structure analysis and structured data extraction and classification. The available positions include development managers and development leads, test leads, SDEs, SDETs, and program managers of all levels.

Roles & Responsibilities:       We are looking for strong candidates who will help us build our next generation Internet Search Infrastructure and computing platform. You will be instrumental in defining and implementing the next generation solution with the cutting edge technologies. You will be collaborating closely with MSR researchers and developers from the MSN Search team, and responsible for prototyping, architect/design, implementation, integration, and quality release of features that will drastically enhance the MSN Search family of products and platform.

Required Qualifications:  The candidates should have strong problem solving skills, excellent coding/debugging skills, good communication skills, the eagerness to learn new technologies, and a proven track record. Knowledge and experience in all of the following areas is highly desired: C/C++, performance tuning, client-server based systems, scalable and fault tolerant distributed systems.
The candidates must also be great team players, customer focused and results driven. BS or MS in Computer Science or related field is required. Chinese language skill is a plus.
